When your faith changes, things can feel unsteady

Faith transitions can bring grief, relief, fear, anger, freedom, and hope — often all at once.

You may feel like you’re losing your community.
You may worry about your marriage.
You may feel unsure who you are without the structure you once relied on.

This group offers a steady, therapist-led space to process your experience openly and honestly while building tools to help you feel grounded and clear about your next steps.

It can feel disorienting, lonely, and overwhelming.

Meet the Therapist

Becky Edwards

Becky understands firsthand how complex and emotional a faith transition can be. She creates a steady, compassionate space where people feel safe to ask hard questions, untangle old beliefs, and reconnect with themselves.

Her approach is warm, integrated, and grounded in evidence-based practices. Becky integrates tools like Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and nervous system regulation to help clients move from confusion and shame toward clarity and self-trust.

Becky’s goal is not to tell you what to believe, but to help you feel steady and confident as you decide for yourself.

A safe space for real processing

This group is meant for those who no longer believe in the LDS Church, whether they are still attending or not. It’s a healing-focused space where you can say what you feel — without being labeled “too much.”

Together, we work on practical tools that help your body and mind settle, so you can think clearly and respond instead of react. Over time, the goal is to help you rebuild self-trust and create a life that feels like it truly belongs to you.

Why group therapy?

There is something powerful about being in a room with people who truly understand what you’re going through. Faith transitions can feel isolating, and it’s easy to wonder if you’re the only one.

A group setting can help you realize you’re not alone. You hear your story reflected in others, find words to describe what you’ve been feeling, and build confidence in your own voice.

  • "This group threw me a lifeline. I felt so alone and scared. It gave me a safe place to talk about my feelings without filtering. Becky provided tools to help me in my journey. I learned how to soothe myself. I learned that I can trust myself and that the answers are inside of me. I’m so happy I found her and allowed myself this experience."

    — Former Group Member

  • "I was very nervous to sign up. It has been one, if not THE one best thing I’ve done in the last few years."

    — Former Group Member

  • "I am SO grateful for this group! It has exceeded all my expectations. I am gaining more knowledge and a better ability to live my life as me – authentically me, and that is huge. I’ve left the group every time with an increased sense of gratitude and joy. THANK YOU!"

    — Former Group Member

  • My faith transition has been one of the loneliest times of my life. This group came at just the right time. Each session was loaded with information to help me make sense of my journey, including tools to help me create deeper connections to myself. Having a place to listen, share, be heard and seen for who I am and where I am has been a real lifeline for me. Thank you!

    — Former Group Member

  • "I really loved being part of this group. I wanted to find 'community' and I found it. Faith transitions are a lot and at times it feels lonely. I learned great skills and techniques to help. I appreciate those in the group that are walking this path with me."

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Our office is happy to answer any questions you have.

  • While we provide a filter-free space to talk about the harm or frustration you’ve experienced, our goal is to help you build your life up. This is a healing-oriented group, focused on your mental health, your self-trust, and your future.

  • Anger is a common, healthy, and adaptive response to feeling betrayed by an institution you loved. It is also a part of the grieving process. Paradoxically, having a safe, external place to process that anger often protects your relationship.

When you have a dedicated space to express your rawest emotions with people who understand, you may find you have more patience and less "heat" when you return home to your believing spouse. Many participants find that their marriages feel more stable because of the group because they are no longer expecting their partner to be their only source of validation.

  • Both are incredibly valuable, but they offer different types of healing.

Individual Therapy is a deep dive into your specific story, tailored entirely to your personal pace and situation.

Group Therapy offers the power of shared experience. You gain a community that truly gets it, and you’ll explore vital topics that you might not even have known to ask about in individual sessions.

Some people do both individual therapy and group therapy at the same time to take advantage of the benefits each offers.

  • The group begins on February 16 (in-person) and 17(online) and runs for a total of 12 weeks.

Group therapy works best when there’s consistency and trust. By registering, you are committing to attend and pay for the full 12 weeks.
You may cancel up to two sessions without charge if you provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

If you miss more than two sessions, or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged for that session.

  • The in-person group meets at our Farmington location on Mondays from 6:30–8:30 PM.

The online group meets via a video conference link on Tuesdays from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM.

Sessions are held at a consistent weekly time and are facilitated by a licensed therapist to support continuity, safety, and meaningful engagement.

  • At this time, our therapist is licensed to provide therapy only in the state of Utah. Even though the group is offered online, participants must be physically located in Utah at the time of each session.

If you’re unsure whether you qualify or have questions about eligibility, please call or text 801-944-4555. We’re happy to help clarify your options.

  • The group costs $65 per-session. Payments are charged weekly.

The total cost of the 12-week program is $780.

By registering, you are agreeing to pay for the full 12-week group. You may cancel up to two sessions without charge if you provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

If you miss more than two sessions, or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged for that session.

  • Group therapy sessions are non-refundable. By registering for the group, you are agreeing to pay for 12 sessions.

However, you may cancel up to two sessions without charge if you provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

If you do not provide 24 hours’ notice or miss more than two sessions, you will be charged.

Because consistency matters for both you and the group, we encourage participants to plan and schedule accordingly.

  • Group therapy sessions are non-refundable.

We encourage you to carefully consider the financial commitment before registering. Once you join the group, you are agreeing to make a weekly payment, even if you decide to stop attending before the group ends.

If you have questions or want help deciding whether this group is a good fit, our therapists offer a free 10-minute consultation.

Call or text 801.944.4555 to schedule a consultation.

  • Registration for the group is currently closed. However, we hold the group multiple times a year.

If you join the waitlist, we will notify you when registration opens again.

Joining the waitlist is obligation-free. There is no financial commitment unless you complete the registration process.

  • If you are hoping to strengthen your testimony or work through doubts while remaining committed to the LDS Church, this particular group is not the right fit.

We respect all paths and do not want to be the catalyst for a faith crisis. This group is intentionally designed as a filter-free space for people who are already in transition.

We offer other group therapy options that are supportive of individuals who want to remain in their faith tradition. We’re happy to help you find the right fit.
